I started to draw when I was really young and my first formal drawing training was given to me by my cousin Angel. He was an artist in the same caliber as the late John Buccema, he interview with Marvel Comics back in the 70's but it was really hard on those days to get in the business. Well like all of us I wanted to pursue a career as an artist but life had other plans for me and so in order to help my familiy back home in P.R. I joined the US Army and stay until retirement. I did drew here and there while in service but it was only when bored or basically at times when I had a bit of free time. Then I had times when I did not drew at all for years, which has hurt my abilities and styling, and everytime I start again is like learning all over again. I started to draw again here and there plus my oldest son also draws and he encourages me to continue to draw and finally I joined DA about 4 years ago. Now I'm trying to maintain some sort of consistancy but it's always challange to draw consistantly. Anyway that is it about me.

Interests
Attended the Baltimore Comic-Con 2014 and it was pretty awesome, there were a lot of people there but for some reason I felt like there was something missing. Not sure what is was, maybe because the setting was different this time around.  The last Con had the main artists in the middle of floor but this time they were on the outside hugging the walls. All of the independent artists were in the middle along with the vendors. Maybe to give the main artists more room for people lining up, cause I tell you what, Gregg Capullo and George Perez had very looong lines that is for sure!  There were the Cos-player as always in force, lots of creative costumes and lots of hot girls dressing up! There were some costumes that were almost movie quality, for example there was this guy dress up as the new Superman from the movie and his costume seemed to have been done by the studio itself. The dude wearing it was physically fit so he did fit the part well to pull it off.  I think his costume was the more realistic one I saw there. I also met this one girl from Philli who was dressed up like Electro, her make up was really good but due to the day light, it took away the effect.

Overall I say there was a lot of people, but like I say in the beginning I was not into it like I would normally be. I think that going to the OTAKON last month and seen a sea of people, made the Comic-Con small in comparison.  The massive amounts of people and the fact that it took the entire convention complex plus one or 2 hotels, it made the Con really small.  Or, the fact that I haven't been drawing for so long and I'm feeling out of it could also be what gives me the feeling of being "out of it".

Anyway overall I had a nice time with my son and grandson so is all good!  Going did gave me incentive to dig my stuff and hopefully I will get back to drawing again, I did dug up some old pads and pictures I did like almost 20 years ago. So I will be posting some, and finishing others to post. That is it for now, take it easy and talk to you all later!

Obi Juan Kenobi by Lpsalsaman
Obi Juan Kenobi
From the South of the Galaxy comes Obi Juan Kenobi!  This pic I saw it on an avatar a few years back, I liked it to the point that I had to draw it. Anyway it was a quick sketch and I colored it in Gimp 2.8.  Anyway enjoy!

Wolverine fights Venom by Lpsalsaman
Wolverine fights Venom
Wolverine having an alley fight with Venom.  This is an old drawing from back in 98, done in Bristol board, mix of color pencil, markers and ink. After scanning it, I use Gimp 2.8 to enhance the colors a bit. Anyway enjoy!

Wolverine and Venom are a property of Marvel/Disney.

Samurai Girl by Lpsalsaman
Samurai Girl
Another pic I did back in 98 of a female Samurai (Onna Bugeisha). Done on a 8x6 drawing paper and markers.  I added the border just to give it depth.
