Went to see the Wolverine on the opening weekend and the movie was really good! Unfortunately the bad rap from the "Origins" story to me seems that it affected this one here. The Origins movie made a lot of money although it sort of sucked, but people were still hyped and having a Wolverine movie made sense to cash in. I guess fans were still thinking about that and on Saturday the second day of the debut weekend, the theater was not as packed as I would have expected it. Anyway I enjoyed the movie, it was fast moving and with a lot of action. I could see glances of some of the original Frank Miller/Chris Claremont origin story in here, but with some changes which are due to the X-men movies re-writing story lines. Anyway it was a good movie and you get a chance go and see it, it is worth it!
Pacific Rim is also another fun movie, something different to see from all of the other big ones. I guess it did not do well because it did not show on too many theaters and critics were really down on it. To me, it was a cool movie with a decent story line. Looking at this movie it reminded me when I used to watch Ultraman or Space Giant (in P.R. was called Goldar). Giant monsters fighting giant robots is always really cool, and to me it should have been taken as a fun movie to see like back when you used to go to Sunday matinee movies. I hope this does not messes up a chance for Guillermo Del Toro to possibly get a Marvel gig in the future. I think he could do a good Dr. Strange movie or Man-Thing movie if Marvel decide to one day come up with one.
Well now the second half of the year is starting so, now we have to wait for Thor and for next year. Oh and a Supes/Batman movie? I think it is a bit too quick for that, as WB is not giving this Superman a chance and they want to pair it with Bats. If they actually do something with Bats whipping Supes ass like in Frank Miller's "Dark Knight Returns" then might as well call it that instead of Superman 2.
Anyway we will see, for now take it easy and keep on drawing!
